As technology has changed, fundraising has changed. There is a proliferation of online platforms to help groups raise money for their particular purpose.

Not all of these online platforms are the same. Some of them take incredibly large cuts of the funds raised, 30% or more in some cases. When individuals give to students or organizations affiliated with the Medford Public Schools, they do not assume they are giving only 70 cents on the dollar.

This new policy centralizes the control of what platforms and for what purposes fundraising can occur. This is to protect both the donors, and the students or groups raising funds.

You can view the new policy here.
